“From an economic point of view, I would have sold Messi this summer,” says Interim Barcelona president Carles Tusquets

Interim Barcelona president Carles Tusquets said he would have sold Barcelona legend Lionel Messi this transfer window. Tusquets took over Josep Bartomeu as the interim president, who left the club in October. It was well known that Messi wanted to leave the Catalan club this summer but due to his astounding release clause of 700 million euros, no club was ready to pay that fee.

Speaking to Catalan radio Rac1, Tusquets said, “From an economic point of view, I would have sold Messi this summer. Economically, that would have been desirable,”

Tusquets said the financial condition of the club is “worrying, very bad, but with hope”

Rumours of the Argentine leaving the club have started to heat up again when RMC Sport journalist Daniel Riolo sensationally proclaimed that Messi will join French club PSG next summer.

Football fans around the world will be curious to know whether the 33 year old stays at Barcelona next summer or decides to move on somewhere else.
