FIFA World Cup 2022: Kylian Mbappe wins Golden boot with 8 goals in the tournament

Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick in the finals though ended up being in a losing side.

French forward Kylian Mbappe got the Adidas Golden Boot award in the FIFA World Cup 2022. The forward scored 8 goals in the tournament and was the top-scorer. The Golden Boot award is presented to the top goalscorer of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

In the finals which were played between Argentina and France on Sunday, 18th December, Mbappe scored a hat-trick which secured him this trophy. However, Mbappe wasn’t happy to receive this award as he wanted the main trophy for which they were playing.

The French national football team couldn’t defend their title and Lionel Messi got his first one with Argentina. Kylian Mbappe was on fire, especially in the second half. He scored two penalty goals. The PSG forward’s second goal was spectacular as he stretches his leg to get it past Emiliano Martinez.

That was an equalizer from Kylian Mbappe which came in the 82nd minute of the game. Kylian Mbappe now has overtaken Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in goals scored in FIFA World Cup. Mbappe has 12 goals in 14 World Cup games, whereas Messi has 11 and Ronaldo has 8.
