The French national football team has again made it to the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 after they defeated England in the quarter-finals on Saturday night. The game was an absolute thriller as it ended with a scoreline of 2-1. England will be back home after their disappointing performance in the quarter-finals.
The battle between the two went well and as expected. Both teams were desperate for goals and were keep trying for them. However, the defending champions didn’t take much time to take the lead against England. Midfielder Tchouameni scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute to make it 1-0 for France.
English striker Harry Kane was rewarded a penalty in the second half and he made no mistake to equalize from the spot. Olivier Giroud again gave the deserved lead to France in the 78th minute before Harry Kane missed out on his second from the spot.
Harry Kane was again given a penalty after the match referee’s decision was overturned by VAR. However Tottenham Hotspur’s forward failed to convert it and thus the game ended 2-1. France will now be facing Morocco in the semifinals who defeated Portugal in the early quarter-final game on Saturday.
