FIFA Club World Cup 2021 kicks off today, Chelsea eyes to defend its first title

Chelsea aiming to win their first Fifa Club World Cup which kickoffs today in UAE.

Thomas Tuchel who is in charge at Stamford bridge will try to take the Blues to win more silverware and try to win the first Club World Cup title as the competition which includes the seven teams’ kickoffs today in Abu Dhabi.

Chelsea who won the champions league last season will finish their FA cup third tie against Plymouth and then will fly to the UAE to kick off their Club World Cup campaign to become the third English side to win the coveted trophy after Liverpool and Manchester United.

The German international took Chelsea to a 1-0 win over their rivals Manchester City in the last year’s Champions League final and then followed it by claiming the UEFA super cup in August against Villareal in a  cagey penalty shootout.

The Blues return to the Fifa Club World Cup for the second time after being the runner-ups to the Brazilian side Corinthians in the 2012 edition which was held in Japan becoming the first team outside Europe to lift the trophy.

Chelsea will start their campaign in the UAE against Asian Champions League winners Al Hilal, Tahiti’s AS Pirae, or Al Jazira,  in the semifinals on 9th February. The Fifa Club World Cup is generally played in December but this is the second consecutive year in which it has been delayed after the 2020 edition which concluded in February last year in Qatar.
