Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was cancelled in 2022. After a thorough study and consultation process, FIFA, the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) have agreed on the three host cities. The organisers decided that Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium, Goa’s Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, and Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium would be the finest places to assure the safety of the players and other tournament participants.

According to the official release on FIFA’s website, AIFF president Praful Patel stated, “The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 host states – Maharashtra, Goa, and Odisha – share our excitement and enthusiasm about leaving a lasting legacy while throwing a joyous light on India’s culture, diversity, and love for the beautiful game.” He also said “The new footprint for the event was selected following FIFA’s recent successful visit to India, but keeping in mind the changing COVID-19 situation. While Goa and Navi Mumbai have demonstrated substantial expertise in holding international competitions, Bhubaneswar, an up-and-coming sporting powerhouse, is perfectly aligned with the values of this youth tournament’s growth and development.”

The 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held between October 11 and October 30.
