NorthEast United was against FC Goa in the Hero Indian Super League match which was played at GMC Athletic Stadium on Friday. Neither teams were able to take three points from this game as the final score of the match was 1-1. The teams were searching for the winning goal but neither of them was successful in finding it. It must have been a disappointing result for both the teams as both were in desperate need of three points. Especially NorthEast United FC needed to win this to go upwards in the Hero Indian Super League 2021/22 season points table. Khalid Jamil’s men are in second last place in the table, having just 9 points in 11 games they played this season.
After seeing the stats, FC Goa was the dominating team as they had 25 shots on NorthEast’s goal but a bit frustrating team as well because despite having 25 shots they only managed to convert one. They also had more shots on target and more possession on the ball but ended earning the same amount of points that NorthEast earned. The visitors were the ones who opened the scoring and took the lead. It was just 2 minutes on the clock since the referee blew the whistle and NorthEast was 1-0 up in the game.

Later in the first half, FC Goa with some possession on the ball scored the equalizer and was back in the game. It was Airam Cabrera, striker of FC Goa who scored the equalizing goal and made it 1-1 before half-time. There were no goals scored in the second half but Goa had so many chances that could lead them to victory and take three points. Thus, the score remained 1-1 after the final whistle so, both the teams lost the two crucial points which would have helped them achieve a higher position in the points table.
