Everton terminate sponsorships with Russian companies

In the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Everton has discontinued all business and sponsoring activities with Russian businesses USM, Megafon, and Yota with immediate effect.

The Toffees have been rebuked for continuing to work with Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov, who runs both USM and Megafon. Everton has thus discontinued all economic and promotional activities with Russian businesses USM, Megafon, and Yota with immediate effect.

The Merseyside club has issued a statement confirming the suspension of these two sponsorships, as well as another with Russian broadband business Yota, and expressing their backing for Ukrainian left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko. A statement released by the club read, “The club can confirm that it has suspended with immediate effect all commercial sponsorship arrangements with the Russian companies USM, Megafon and Yota.”

Everton has shown support to their player Vitalii Mykolenko as his country fights Russia.” Everyone at Everton remains shocked and saddened by appalling events in Ukraine. Everyone providing full support to Mykolenko and his family”, the official statement read.

At Goodison Park, Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko and Everton’s Vitaliy Mykolenko were moved to tears as teammates, staff, and fans showed their support for Ukraine. With a 1-0 triumph, Pep Guardiola’s team extends their lead at the top to six points, but Everton is enraged by a VAR decision that will be as painful for Liverpool.

Title races can be decided by the tiniest of margins. It was the space in between the end of Rodri’s shoulder and the start of his arm this time. Richarlison was standing on the position with the ball in his palm, expecting a penalty, and was taken aback when VAR denied Everton’s late challenge. With Ukraine under Russian attack, football and the larger sporting world have shown their support for the country.
