Enzo Maresca’s side started strongly, with James opening the scoring early on. The captain, making his return from injury, showed his attacking instincts with a well-placed finish. Copenhagen responded well, finding an equalizer before halftime to keep the tie competitive. However, Chelsea’s midfield quality shone through in the second half, as Fernández struck to restore their lead.
Despite late pressure from the Danish side, Chelsea held firm to take a valuable lead back to London. With the second leg at Stamford Bridge on the horizon, the Blues will look to finish the job and advance to the quarter-finals.
