The England national football team has officially announced their squad for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 tournament, set to be one of the most prestigious competitions in international football. The squad selection has sparked significant discussion, particularly due to the absence of long-time defensive stalwart Harry Maguire.
Harry Maguire, a key figure in Gareth Southgate’s defensive lineup over the past few years, has been omitted from the squad for the first time in a considerable period. Southgate, known for his unwavering support of Maguire, had to make this tough decision owing to an injury concern. Maguire sustained a calf injury in mid-April, and despite his efforts to recover in time, he has not been deemed fit enough to participate in the tournament.
