Crystal Palace beat Manchester City 2-0; hand the defending champions their second Premier League defeat of the season

Following this loss, Manchester City remains in the third position with 20 points against their name, while Crystal Palace climbs up to 13th position.

In the match week 10 encounter, Manchester City took on Crystal palace, to return to their winning ways. In the midweek encounter against West Ham in the Carabao Cup, the blue team from Manchester lost on the penalties, as Phil Foden missed the very first spot-kick for his team. It was an unprecedented blip by the Pep Guardiola side as they had been the reigning champions of the League cup for the past 4 years. Crystal Palace on the other hand too was looking to register a win after drawing 4 successive games. They had played very good football in those games but were unable to procure a win in those matches.

The game did not start on a good note for Manchester City who conceded an early goal in the 6th minute. The Eagle’s striker Wilfred Zaha scored a coolly placed shot past Ederson at the end of an amazing run. For the rest of the first half, Manchester City was chasing the game. They dictated the possession but were unable to penetrate the goal of Crystal Palace where Guaita stood firm guarding the post. Things tensed up in the final minutes of the first half as a foul by Laporte on Zaha was deemed as a red card worthy. This was followed by a tussle between the players because of which Bernardo Silva and goalkeeper Ederson saw a yellow card.

The second half started with a bang, as both the teams came out with a little more energy. Zaha and Jesus both managed to find the back of the net in quick successions, but both of them were ruled out as Off Side. Towards the end of the game, things seemed to be turning stale when the Crystal Palace on the counter played some great passing football to find the second goal of the game. An 88th-minute strike by Connor Gallagher from inside the box found the inside of the post and went in.

Following this loss, Manchester City remains in the third position with 20 points against their name, while Crystal Palace climbs up to 13th position after this huge win.
