Cristiano Ronaldo, who is already one of the greatest players in the game, has broken another record and it’s a pretty special one. He is now the highest all-time goal-scorer in international games, breaking Iranian former footballer Ali Daei’s record. He has now scored 111 goals in all international games compared to Daei’s 109 goals.

He broke the record today when he scored a brace against Ireland in a FIFA World Cup Qualifying match. Before this match started, he already equalled Daei’s record in Euros this year against France. In this match too, he scored a brace against France in their last group to match the record.
In this match too, his performance was clinical and helped the team win the match 2-1. Initially, it looked like he was not his usual self when he missed the penalty at the 15th minute and the penalty miss looked worse as Ireland took the lead with a John Egan header from a corner kick into the far side of the net.
Portugal was the second-best team throughout the match but if you have a player like Ronaldo who is experienced in crunch situations, a goal would have never been far away. He indeed scored at the 89th minute as he rose above all to score a header from a corner kick to break Daei’s record. Ronaldo again rose above all to score his second goal at stoppage time to save Portugal and win the match for them.
