The last year of their respective contracts with PSG and Manchester United has begun for both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s still not certain if Ronaldo will sign a contract extension with the Red Devils.
After the 2022–23 season, the Portugal captain does have the option of extending his stay for another season. But because Erik ten Hag didn’t give him enough playing time, the Telegraph reports that he might quit Old Trafford in the January transfer window. In all competitions so far this season, Ronaldo has only made three starts. The early part of the 2022–23 season, on the other hand, has seen Messi in outstanding form for PSG. In 12 games across all competitions, he has recorded seven goals and eight assists. The Parisian giants were eager to extend his contract for at least another season, according to a source from back in July.
Meanwhile, the Argentine media claims that Messi might return to his beloved club FC Barcelona in July following his contract edge. It is to be seen whether the two greats will end up extending contracts or the fans will be able to see them in different clubs respectively.
