Chelsea’s new number 9, Romelu Lukaku is likely to start against Arsenal this weekend

Chelsea has signed a new striker this summer, Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. It seems Thomas Tuchel is ready to start him in the number 9 position this weekend against Arsenal in the Premier League.

The Belgian striker, Romelu Lukaku is back in the Premier League and will play for Chelsea this season. Lukaku was signed for £97.5m by Chelsea FC from Inter Milan as Thomas Tuchel’s side was looking for a new striker this summer.

Romelu Lukaku has rejoined Chelsea FC after leaving the side in 2014 for another Premier League club Everton. Lukaku had been given the Number 9 shirt and also been assigned to play in the same position. Chelsea announced the signing of Romelu Lukaku last week on August 12, Thursday. He also had his first training session with his new team members. Chelsea kept an open training session in which fans were allowed to view the session of the players on Wednesday. Romelu Lukaku was presented in front of Chelsea fans for the first time since he rejoined the side last week.

“Yes, I’ve been training. I did a full pre-season, now I try to get my teammates better, at the end of the day I’m available for the manager if he wants me,” Lukaku said to Chelsea Tv press conference when asked if he can start this weekend.

Romelu Lukaku was also given the number 9 jersey during their open training session after Tammy Abraham, the former number 9 left the club for AS Roma on Tuesday. Chelsea fans are expecting to see him in the Chelsea shirt for their match against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, August 22.
