Chelsea have expressed interest in signing Filip Jorgensen, a 22-year-old goalkeeper from Villarreal. The London club has made an initial inquiry about Jorgensen, who is one of their targets for strengthening the goalkeeper position.
Jorgensen, who has represented Denmark and Sweden at youth levels, joined Villarreal in 2019 and made 37 appearances last season, keeping six clean sheets. He recently signed a five-year contract extension with the Spanish club.
Chelsea’s current goalkeeping roster includes Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Marcus Bettinelli, and Lucas Bergstrom. Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has returned from a loan spell at Real Madrid, is expected to be sold this summer, with Chelsea having already rejected an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.
The club will kick off their U.S. pre-season tour with a match against Wrexham on July 25.
