Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland wins the 2020 Golden Boy Award

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has won the 2020 Golden Boy Award. He finished 1st ahead of Ansu Fati (2nd) and Alphonso Davies (3rd). The 20 year old broke onto the scene in the 2019–20 UEFA Champions League campaign when he became the first teenager to score in five consecutive UEFA Champions League matches where he scored 8 goals against KRC Genk, Liverpool and Napoli.

Haaland also scored 9 goals in a FIFA U-20 World Cup match vs Honduras. He also won the Golden Boot award that tournament with 9 goals.

Even in a short period of time, Haaland is considered one of the best strikers in the world. Known for his movement, pace, power and deadly finishing ability, the Norwegian is currently one of the most prolific goalscorers in the world.

Haaland secured his transfer to German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund a couple of days before the January 2020 winter transfer opened for a fee reported to be in the region of €20 million, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Haaland scored 44 goals in 40 matches in the 2019/20 season. This season, he has 11 goals in 11 matches.
