On Tuesday, Borussia Dortmund has officially signed Marin Pongracic from Wolfsburg in a loan move. The Black Yellow are very happy with the defender they were looking forward towards as they complete the signing. The club was very keen to add additional cover and competition in defence, with the 23-year old capable of playing both as centre-back or at right-back position for Borussia Dortmund.
Fans are certainly excited to see him play for the team, as he proves to behave a bright future. The Croatia international joins on an initial season-long loan from Wolfsburg. He was also a Bayern Munich youth academy player and Red Bull Salzburg player before joining Wolfsburg in 2020.

Multiple reports were suggesting that the deal includes an option for Borussia Dortmund to make it permanent for a fee in the region between 10-12 million to make him a permanent player. The former Croatian international defender was born in Landshut, as he moved his way back to Lower Saxony from Salzburg in January 2020. He made a total of 21 Bundesliga appearances only to score 2 goals in his career till now.
Dortmund Sporting Director Micheal Zorc said that “Marin is a young central defender with pace who will complete our defence”. He is excited to see Marin as he provides a boost to the defence for Borussia Dortmund. It is said that Pongracic could make his BVB debut as soon as 11 September, when Marco Rose’s side travel to the BayArena to battle against Bayern Leverkusen – a team he scored a brace against in May 2020.
