Despite a great performance by Sunil Chettri lead Bengaluru FC, the score remained 0-0. Basundhara Kings of Bangladesh was playing their second group stage match. Though Bengaluru thought they would have made it possible to score the goal in the 74th minute of the game unfortunately Alan Henriques header hit the crossbar.
Bengaluru FC with only one point in two matches is now possible in a position to slide into the knock-outs with only the group winners making it to the next grade. Four points for Basundhara in the group stage with the help of amazing goalkeeping by Anisur Rehman as he saved some crucial goals with the exceptional skillset that helped the Bangladesh Premier League winners to take this match towards a draw.
Both the teams were looking equally strong throughout the game. Basundhara was playing this match with the hope to get a build-up after their opening win whereas for Bengaluru it was a must-win match after their defeat against AKT Mohun Bagan.
The Brazilian star of Basundhara, Robinho gave a mazy run but the Defender Yrondu Musavu-King helped to save it and the only chance with Musavu to score a goal and take the lead was saved by Rahman. The thrill started in the 56th minute when Robinho got a penalty but was saved by Gurpreet. Even in the 60th minute Chettri was kept as inspiration along with veteran striker but touched the crossbar.
The goal was even more closely with Costa’s header but again the fortune was not in Bengaluru’s favour as the ball was onto the goal line without going in. Bengaluru hopes are hanging for the Knockout stage.
