Barcelona president reckons they don’t require a superstar, already have Ansu Fati

Fati was granted the No. 10 jersey upon Messi’s exit from Barcelona last summer.

Barcelona has been speculating about recruiting a superstar to cover the vortex left by Lionel Messi’s absence last summer and oversee the rebuilding program with Xavi Hernandez as the transfer window arrives.

Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund has been tightly correlated for months. The 21-year-old, on the other side, could be on his path to Manchester City or perhaps even Real Madrid. Robert Lewandowski, the famed striker from Bayern Munich, is also on the radar at Camp Nou.

While the gossip mill tends to churn out new names, Barça president Joan Laporta reckons that the team potentially has a superstar player in the form of Ansu Fati.  He said, “We already have a superstar and his name is Ansu Fati – we’re waiting for him”. as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The 19-year-old progressed through Barcelona’s La Masia youth system and debuted in the first team in 2019. He went on to produce a terrific first year with the senior squad.

Besides being had a hard past 20 months or so accruing to injuries, the youngster stays highly valued not just inside the team ranks, but across Europe.

Following Messi’s exit from Barcelona last summer, Fati was even handed the No. 10 jersey, reflecting the club’s conviction in the teenager. And, with the Spaniard still at the club, Laporta claims that the Blaugrana do not necessitate any major recruits. Ansu Fati has only featured ten outings this year, but he has netted five goals. The Spanish international has recently resumed training, but the club’s management does not intend for him to rush to service right away.

Ansu Fati is definite to skip Thursday’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final return leg encounter against Eintracht Frankfurt.
