Barcelona president Joan Laporta claims Ousmane Dembele has not sought for a new contract with Barcelona

Dembele was previously linked with Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-German.

FC Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele has yet to give any indication of desiring to remain at the side as his contract with Barcelona runs out at the end of the season, and the Catalan outfit rescinded their ‘last’ proposal to him in December, but that was while the Frenchman rebounded to his spectacular best under new boss Xavi.

Barcelona has won five league consecutive games and Dembele has supplied a strike and seven assists during the same span. There have been plenty of rumours that the 24-year-old Dembele could be swayed to stay but Laporta has lowered expectations.

President Laporta spoke with Mundo Deportivo as reported by Fabrizio Romano said, “We’ve no news for Ousmane Dembélé contract. If he wants to stay, he will have to adapt to our salary scale for next season”

Laporta clasp said that the Frenchman’s intent to remain at Camp Nou has still not been confirmed as the salary scale still remains the same as proposed before. Gavi and Ronald Araujo, two young players, are also coming towards the end of their leases, but Laporta reckons it is all in the hands of their agents.

Barcelona is 12 points adrift Real Madrid with a match in play, Laporta has been still heartened by the 4-0 triumph against Los Blancos in El Clasico the previous Sunday and has vowed that Barcelona will fight for the league.
