Ahead of the second leg game of the Europa League (2022/23) between Manchester United and Barcelona at Old Trafford, Xavi had his say on Lionel Messi’s return to the club. Xavi feels Lionel Messi still very much open to leave his current club PSG to join his former club FC Barcelona.
Xavi also gave a message to Messi, saying that the doors are always open for the Argentine star. The world cup winner is about to reach an agreement with PSG for one-year contract extension. However, Lionel Messi’s father recently said in an interview that he won’t join Barcelona again but it is still very much depends on the 36-year old Argentine forward.
“Messi knows that Barcelona is his home and the doors are open, I said this many times. He’s my friend — we are in permanent contact, a potential return will only depend on him. Leo is the best player in history, he’d always fit in,” said Xavi in the press conference as reported by Fabrizio Romano via Twitter.
