Barcelona sporting director Deco has expressed satisfaction with head coach Hansi Flic, suggesting that the club could consider extending his contract in the future. Speaking to Sport, Deco emphasized that both the club and Flick are pleased with the current situation, with no urgency to discuss a new deal at this stage.
“We’re very happy with Hansi Flick, and we see him happy here,” Deco said. “If everything continues as it is, we’ll work to extend his contract. It’s nothing urgent. We keep going.”
Flick, who took over as Barcelona manager ahead of the 2024/25 season, has been under scrutiny following the departure of Xavi. His tenure so far has shown promise, with Barcelona maintaining a competitive position in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. His tactical approach, blending high pressing with controlled possession, has been well-received by the club’s hierarchy.
Deco’s comments suggest that the club is confident in Flick’s ability to lead the team forward, but they are not in a rush to make any contractual decisions.
