Barcelona confirms a player tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of Champions League Quarter Finals against Bayern

The Spanish club Barcelona confirmed that one player from the team had tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.

The Spanish Club Barcelona confirmed that one player from the pre-season squad had tested positive of Coronavirus amongst the group of nine players but there are no changes made in their schedule to play the Quarter Finals against Bayern in Lisbon.

The player is no yet been named by the club and also confirmed that “he has not been in contact with any of the senior team players who are schedule to travel to Lisbon this Thursday to compete in the Champions league”.

Pedri, Trincao, Matheus Fernanades, Todibo, Moussa Wague, Carles Alena, Rafinia, Juan Miranda and Oriol Busquets were the players tested, it is of this nine players above mentioned has tested positive for Coronavirus and the club has said the player is asymptomatic and is currently quarantined at home. In a club statement Barcelona added that the matter has been reported to the health authorities and all of the players recent contacts have been tracked.

The nine players were not a part of the squad travelling to Lisbon to play in the Champions league Quarter Finals in Lisbon, the competition is concluded as a mini tournament striking out the two legs of matches replaced by one off games due to the Pandemic in the European continent amongst which Spain is among the ones who are hit hard by the Coronavirus.
