Atlético Madrid nearing agreement to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea

Atlético Madrid and Chelsea are close to finalizing a deal for midfielder Conor Gallagher. Talks have progressed rapidly, with a transfer fee in the range of €35-40 million nearly agreed upon. However, some minor details remain to be sorted out.

Gallagher, currently on holiday after participating in Euro 2024 with England, has not yet agreed to personal terms with Atlético Madrid and may need some convincing to make the move. Chelsea appears open to selling the 24-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract. While there have been discussions about extending his stay at Stamford Bridge, it’s unclear if the offered terms will be sufficient.

Gallagher, who joined Chelsea at the age of six, has attracted interest from other clubs, including Tottenham and West Ham, though there has been little movement towards a Premier League transfer this year.

New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Gallagher’s future, stating, “The transfer window is open, so unfortunately something can happen, not only with Conor, but all the players.”

Chelsea has also shown interest in Atlético Madrid’s striker Samu Omorodion, who is focused on the upcoming Olympics with Spain and has not welcomed offers. Chelsea reportedly had at least one bid for Omorodion turned down earlier this summer.
