ATK Mohun Bagan FC is back in the top 4 of the Hero Indian Super League after defeating the table-toppers of the league Hyderabad FC on Tuesday. Even after getting defeated by the Bagans, Hyderabad remained in the top spot with 26 points in 15 games they played. ATK is now on 23 points and just three points behind the top which means the league is still wide open. ATK has also played two fewer games than the table-toppers Hyderabad. The match ended with a scoreline of 2-1.
ATK proved to be the better team in this match and thus deservingly took three points from the game. Juan Ferrando’s men were looking sharp in their passing and had most of the possession in the game. It was all about goals which came in the second half of the match. The first half wasn’t good for both the teams as they had pretty good chances but neither of them could utilize those. Star player Liston Colaco scored the opening goal for the visitors in the 56th minute. Three minutes later, midfielder Manvir Singh doubled the lead for them and ATK was 2-0 up against the league leaders. However, Hyderabad still managed to pull one goal back in the 67th minute when winger Joel Chianese scored a wonderful goal to make it 1-2 for the host.
Hyderabad was trying hard till the end but Manolo Marquez’s men couldn’t earn a point. They are still on top but they have played more games than the other teams, it will be interesting to see who overtakes Hyderabad in the points table of the Hero Indian Super League 2021/22 season after they missed out on crucial three points in the game against ATK Mohun Bagan FC.
