Bagan got the first good chance in the game with Liston Colaco missing an open net, with David Williams providing the assist at the 17th minute. Roy Krishna attempted a bicycle kick at the 22nd minute, through a Liston cross which just missed the goal.

Basundhara Kings got the first breakthrough in the game as Fernandes and Robinho paired up and penetrated the Bagan defence to score the goal at the 27th minute. Mohun Bagan trailed for the second match in a row. But the joy for Kings was short-lived, as midfielder Sushanto Tripura was given a direct red card at the end of the 1st half.

The 2nd half started with Bagan searching for an equalizer. Subhasish came close to scoring at the 56th minute but failed and went wide as no one was there to receive it.

Bagan eventually equalised at the 61st minute with their no.9 David Williams scoring it, which was set up by Colaco who had a great run from the left-wing.

Williams had another chance to create a Bagan lead but the goalkeeper, Anisur Rehman blocked it. Robinho also had a chance but Bagan goalkeeper Amarinder Singh saved the team.

Kings attempted to take the lead with a high line during the end of the match but Bagan put numbers behind their defence which allowed them to keep this score till the final whistle.

This result means that ATK Mohun Bagan has progressed to the AFC Cup inter-zonal semi-final playoffs. Other teams in the group which include the Kings, Bengaluru FC and Maziya have been knocked out from the competition. Bagan will face the winner of the Central Asia zonal final match which will be between Nasaf and Ahal at the semi-final playoffs.
