ATK Mohan Bagan is set to start the AFC Cup Inter-Zone semifinal clash against Uzbekistan’s FC Nasaf in unfamiliar territory against their daunting opponents tomorrow at 8:30 PM IST. ATK who are now without their central defender Sandesh Jinghan saw the Mariners draw the game against the Bashundhara Kings which was enough to see them through to the South Asian Zonal Champions. Sandesh had left ATK to sign a deal with the Croatian side Sibenik earlier this year on the 18th of August. The absence of Hugo Boumos after being omitted from the squad made way for the newly signed midfielder Joni Kauko who has previously featured in the UEFA Euro 2020 in all of Finland’s group games earlier this year.

ATK Mohan Bagan has left for Uzbekistan via Dubai in hopes to advance to the Inter-Zonal Final against Hong Kong’s Lee Man FC next month. The Indian side has been out of domestic league action since March having played only three AFC Cup group games in August as their only competitive matches in well over six months. Despite the lack of preparation in competitive matches, Antonio Lopez Haba’s men hope to make the most up for it in the talent and ambition that the squad bring out every time they step onto the field.
The highly dangerous duo of David Williams and Roy Krishna has proven to be very efficient in attack after combining for three of the team’s six goals during the group stages in the AFC Cup while the newly signed Amrinder Singh looks to build a good and positive start for his new team.
