Bayer Leverkusen didn’t lose a single game this season in all competitions before this final. They also won this year’s Bundesliga but couldn’t add Europa League trophy to their name.
Atalanta brought Bayer Leverkusen’s impressive undefeated streak to a dramatic halt with a massive 3-0 victory. The hero of the match was none other than Ademola Lookman, whose hat-trick secured the trophy for the Italian side.
Lookman opened the scoring in the 12th minute, displaying remarkable skill and composure. He doubled Atalanta’s lead in the 26th minute, further diminishing the German champions. The final blow came in the 75th minute, when Lookman completed his hat-trick, displaying Atalanta’s dominance and ensuring their victory.
Bayer Leverkusen, who had not lost a single game in all competitions throughout the season and recently clinched the Bundesliga title, found themselves unable to make a comeback in this game.
