
The Andhra Pradesh (AP) sports minister Muttamsetty Srinivasa Rao launches Sreenidhi Deccan Football Club (FC), the latest and the 12th addition to the Hero I-League, at a function held on the beach road in Vishakapatnam on Wednesday morning. The Vizag Port Trust chairman, K Ramamohana Rao, released the team’s jersey later and wished the team all the success.
According to TNN, KT Mahhe, the Chairman of the Sreenidhi educational group of Hyderabad, said that the club would also boost the game locally and in AP. This will increase the local talent, build the best facilities, conduct grassroots-level programmes at the schools and renovate football grounds. It has created the best facilities in Hyderbad and would replicate them here.
He also said that the talent hunt was all across India a few years ago for the Hyderabad academy and some of the trainees would play for the national team soon. Fernando Santiago Varela will be the coach of Sreenidhi Deccan FC, who coached Churchill Brothers (runner-ups) last season. Further, the team selection will be held next month in Hyderabad and informed the technical director of the team Fabio Nunes Ferreira, and Mahhe added that one or two players from Andhra and Hyderbad would be in the team.
As per TNN, the CEO of AIFF, Sunando Dhar, hopes that Sreenidhi Deccan FC would give a boost to the game in the region and the general secretary of AIFF Kushal Das was glad that a club from Vishakapatnam entered the I-League.
