Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are now the official owners-elect of Wrexham AFC, who play in England’s fifth tier of the football pyramid. The official announcement was confirmed after a vote from the clubs fans allowed the takeover to go through.

Formed in 1864, Wrexham are the oldest club in Wales and the third oldest professional football team in the world. Since the August of 2011, the club has been a supporter-owned football club, leaving all the major decisions regarding the club in the hands of its beloved fans. The talks for the takeover of the club by the American celebrities have been going on for well over 3 months and the pair of them have publicly expressed their interest in owning the club. Ryan Reynolds also claimed that he and his partner were aware of the history of this historic club and that they were committed towards bringing it back to success and fame.
