Alexandre Lacazette has stated that he is open to leaving Arsenal this summer as his contract expires. Lacazette will be a free agent this summer, and a decision on a new contract at Arsenal has been put on wait until the end of the season, as both the club and the forward-considering their alternatives. After an extended absence from Europe’s top competition at Arsenal, the 30-year-old has been free to negotiate with foreign sides since January as per the transfer rules and has disclosed he has held talks with several clubs’ about a prospective move, acknowledging his desire to play Champions League games.
In an interview with Canal+, Lacazette stated that he is in discussions with a lot of clubs. He stated that he is open to playing anywhere and he has never cut contact with Lyon (his previous club), he tries to visit the club once or twice a year as they have a close relationship. The club knows that the striker’s contract ends this summer and has contacted him regarding a return to the club.
The Frenchman joined Arsenal in 2017 for a then-club-record £46.5 million fee from Lyon and has 71 goals in 201 appearances for the North Londoners in all competitions. Following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, he has led a young team this season, however, he has been slammed by critics for his goal return, with only four Premier League goals to his name.
