Saudi Arabian club named Al Hilal has reached an agreement with Manchester City for their defender João Cancelo whose name has been circulating since his internal dispute with the PL side. He left City to join Bayern on loan and then joined Barcelona last season on a full season loan. The defender is now close to join the Saudi Arabian side on a €25 million deal.
Al Hilal has reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Portuguese defender João Cancelo for a fee of €25 million. Cancelo, who has been in the spotlight due to an internal dispute with the Premier League champions, appears set for a new chapter in his career after a series of loan spells in Europe.
The 30-year-old’s relationship with Manchester City has been strained since last year, leading to a loan move to Bayern Munich in January 2023. Cancelo made an immediate impact in Germany, contributing to Bayern’s Bundesliga title win. Despite his success, Bayern opted not to make the move permanent, and Cancelo returned to Manchester City. However, he didn’t stay long, as he was sent out on another loan to Barcelona for the entirety of the 2023-24 season.
At Barcelona, Cancelo demonstrated his versatility and attacking skills, quickly becoming a key player in Xavi Hernandez’s setup.
