
All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Praful Patel met the Sports Minister Anurag Thakur today to brief him about the upcoming international tournaments the country is hosting.

The AIFF president Patel updated Thakur about the future events that are going to be held in the country such as the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 which is supposed to start in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune from the 20th of January onwards. The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 will also be hosted by the country and is scheduled to start from the 11th of October 2022, according to a press release, as AIFF elaborated this in a press release.
Sports Authority of India’s director-general Sandip Pradhan, Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal were also present in the meeting alongside AIFF general secretary Kushal Das and his deputy Abhishek Yadav. Under Praful Patel, India hosted its FIFA sanctioned tournament in 2017 which was the U-17 World Cup, which was won by the English team. He has been the AIFF president for almost a decade. He has inked deals with France Football and the German Football Association (DFB) and the Japanese Football Association to support each in terms of the mutual growth, promotion and continuous emphasis on the development of football.
In 2015, he became the Senior Vice President of AFC and in 2017, became a member of the FIFA finance committee. In 2016, he was elected for consecutive terms. He introduced the women’s league in 2017 on the 24th of January 2017. He will now have to organise future tournaments and develop football in this country.
