AIFF: Kolkata hosts a football workshop for women match officials

RFYS and AIFF co-organized a two-day workshop for women match officials in Kolkata.

From yesterday to today, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) jointly organized a two-day workshop for women match officials in Kolkata.

In a first of its kind, the RFYS-AIFF women’s match official workshop was attended by over 30 female officials who received on-field and classroom training from AIFF officials. The workshop’s participants came from six different centres, including Shillong, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Aizawal, Hyderabad, and Kharagpur.

“RFYS, beyond players and coaches, fully recognizes the positive contribution referees make to football,” said Trevor Kettle – chief refereeing officer and Maria Rebello – course director and member of the referee’s committee on behalf of the AIFF.

In addition to providing exciting opportunities for female referees across several competitions and the country, RFYS has displayed a forward-thinking attitude and commitment to inclusion.

Regarding the workshop, RFYS said, “Reliance Foundation is committed to ensuring more participation of girls and women athletes in India. We work extensively to create programs that provide maximum learning opportunities and showcase their expertise.”
