Ahmet Yilmaz Calik dead at 27, Konyaspor’s star killed in horror car crash

A TURKISH international footballer Ahmet Yilmaz Calik has died in a horror car crash aged 27.

Defender Ahmet Yilmaz Calik was on the  express highway when the defender lost the control and crashed at around 9 am on Tuesday morning. He was himself driving his car when this tragic incident happened. It was reported that the car flipped as it came off the carriageway and landed in a gully.
Emergency services rushed to the accident but Ahmet was declared dead at the site by the medical professionals in heartbreaking circumstances.
Ahmet was alone in the car at the time of the accident and is due to be buried in Elmadag Cemetery after the funeral on Tuesday, reported FotoMac in Turkey.

According to Spor Arena, he was commuting to Ankara on his day off to finalize wedding plans for February. The player earned 8 senior caps for Turkey between 2015 to 2017 after moving through the ranks in the youth teams. It was a tragic incident which happened on Monday. This incident has impacted hugely to his loved ones.

Ahmet was representing Konyaspor


in club football until this tragic incident, joining the Super Lig in 2020 from Galatasaray.

Konyaspor tweeted a message of support for his popular centre-back. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our footballer Ahmet Calik, who has won the love of our fans and our city since the primary day he came to our Konyaspor.” Konyaspor wrote via Twitter. Ex-Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski has played with Calik at Galatasaray.
