AFC U-17 Asian Cup: India draws Japan, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan in Group D

AFC U-17 Asian Cup will start on June 15 in Bangkok.

It is announced that the Indian U-17 National Team has been placed in Group D of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Thailand 2023. It was announced on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the tournament’s draw ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand, that this would happen. As part of group D of the game, India has been drawn against Japan, Vietnam and Uzbekistan.

Head coach Bibiano Fernandes said, “We are excited about the group we got in the draw. We will face some quality opponents, and the boys look forward to it. Every footballer at every level wants to play against the elite, and Japan is one of the top teams in Asia.

“Our previous batches have played against Uzbekistan and Vietnam, and we have had positive results against them. We hope to reach our goal of being the first Indian team to qualify for the (FIFA U-17) World Cup.”

Two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages: the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final of the competition. A total of four teams will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Peru 2023 if they qualify for the tournament semi-finals.

The AFC U-17 Asian Cup will start on June 15 in Bangkok. It will be played across four venues: Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thammasat Stadium and BG Stadium in Pathum Thani, and Chonburi Stadium in Chonburi.
