Shubhankar Sharma finishes in the 9th position at the Cazoo Classic Tournament

Shubhankar Sharma ends the Cazoo Classic as tied ninth. This is his second top ten finish of the year.

Shubhankar Sharma had started off with a bang, as he hit four birdies in the first seven holes in the last round to finish at ninth position, which is quite a creditable, at the Cazoo Classic golf tournament. Sharma had run out of birdies and hit a shot on par-4 13th when it went into the water, but, later he hit a birdie for four-under 68. His birdie shots were in the first, fourth, fifth, seventh and 18th holes.

Sharma achieved his best finish since finishing T8 in May, at Made in Himmerland, in Denmark. His total score was 11 under. Other Indians such as Gaganjeet Bhullar, SSP Chourasia, Ajeetesh Sindhu and Shiv Kapur missed the cut.

Sharma has been having a decent season, so far, as he does hit a lot of birdies but also concedes shots like double bogies. He had 15 birdies in the front nine and nine on the back nine but he also concedes eight bogeys on the first and second days. On the third and fourth day, he bogeyed twice and double-bogeyed once.

Scotland’s Callum Hill won his maiden European Tour title as he recorded a five-under final round 67. He lost to Grant Forest in the Hero Cup, which was his first opportunity to win a European title. Race to Dubai, now, has seen two consecutive Scottish winners.

Hill was off the pace entering round four but came back due to birdies at the 10th, 13th and 15th holes which made him the leader on 16 under. Alexander Levy finished second, his best finish since winning Trophée Hassan II in April of 2018. He stormed through with an 8- under 64, to set up a clubhouse target of 15-under.

British golfer, Richard Bland finished third, along with fellow Englishman Callum Shinkwin, Welsh golfer Jamie Donaldson and Denmark’s Rasmus Højgaard.
