Qualifiers of 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in India to be rescheduled

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) concludes to reschedule qualifiers of the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup tournament in India.

The AFC executive committee came to this conclusion due to the situation in India of health emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The championship is presumed to be organised in India from January 20 to February 6, 2022, and the event for the qualifier is programmed presently for September 13 to 25 of this year.

“In preparation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, the AFC Executive Committee also decided to provide greater flexibility in finalising the dates for the Qualifiers…,” said AFC through a release.

“The challenges that may arise from the availability of hosts, team travel arrangements, quarantine and medical measures imposed by several nations,” the controlling body said.

The exhortation of the Women’s Football Committee about calling off the next year’s U-17 Women’s Asian Cup Indonesia and the U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Uzbekistan has also been approved by the AFC Executive Committee.

The sports organisation, AFC committee addressed the importance of health and safety and to take it into serious consideration as a priority to all the stakeholders in particular. They will also work with the applicable host Member Association to clinch the competition dates to complete the Qualifiers as it was decided that the same hosts will stage the next programs of both competitions in 2024.

The permission for the AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee’s advice of cancelling the Women’s Futsal Championship Kuwait 2020 and the U20 Futsal Asian Cup 2021 has also been granted.

In the meantime, the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Kuwait 2022 Qualifiers that was supposed to be held from October 13 to 24 have now been programmed from April 1 to 15, 2022 and the final competition is rescheduled to take place from September 25 to October 20, which was earlier scheduled from February 16 to 27.
