Varun’s low catch ends Abhishek’s quick innings after review

Abhishek Sharma fell for 48 after a low catch by Varun Chakaravarthy was confirmed on review at Eden Gardens. The ball was hit hard and flat, and Varun dived forward at deep square leg to take it.

The on-field umpires referred the decision upstairs. Third umpire Nitin Menon checked multiple angles and ruled that the fingers were underneath the ball. The decision was given out, ending Abhishek’s innings two short of a fifty.

The wicket came off Blessing Muzarabani, who picked up his second in the over with a slower, back-of-a-length delivery that Abhishek pulled to the leg side.

KKR players began celebrating early, while Abhishek stood his ground as the review continued. Replays confirmed a clean catch, and the decision remained out. Abhishek left the field visibly surprised as the big screen showed the final call.
