
After the news of Avani Lekhara’s gold medal in the rifle shooting event, there is another good news for India. Yogesh Kathuniya, the Indian Para Discus thrower has won a silver medal in the men’s discus throw F56 event in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic games. He made his best throw of the season in his last attempt at this event.
Yogesh Kathuniya threw the discus to a distance of 44.38m in his very final attempt in the F56 event and that was the silver medal-winning attempt by the Indian Para Discus thrower. Kathuniya didn’t seem settled in the final as he started with some foul throws but later in the competition, he came back stronger and gave his season’s best throw of 43.55m and 44.38m. So many big personalities congratulated the Indian Paralympian discus thrower, Yogesh Kathuniya for his spectacular effort in the 2020 Paralympic Games including India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As the 24-year-old Indian Para discus thrower won the silver medal in the Discus throw event, it was India’s 7th medal in the 2020 Paralympic Games. India now has one gold, four silver, and 2 Bronze medals in the current Paralympic Games. The only gold for India is won by the Indian Para rifle shooter named Avani Lekhara in the shooting event on Monday morning.
