Tokyo Olympics: Wrestler Bajrang Punia enters into the Semifinals of Men’s Freestyle 65kg by defeating Iranian wrestler Ghiasi Cheka

Two wins in a row for Bajrang Punia as he enters into the Semifinals of the Olympics. Indian wrestler displayed a superb performance in the quarter-finals to get to the last 4.

Bajrang Punia showcased a great performance to get to the semifinals of the Tokyo Olympics. He defeated Ghiasi Cheka of Iran in the quarterfinals 65kg category. Bajrang Punia’s father is confident that his son will bring a medal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Bajrang father told ANI on Friday, “I spoke to Bajrang, he was very happy. I asked him to bring gold. He will do his best. I am sure he will bring the medal and country’s wishes are with Bajrang. He will prove his calibre”

Bajrang was trailing 0-1 throughout the game, but still, he manages to get the win against the Iranian man. The game changed in the second period when Bajrang managed to pin down his opponent Ghiasi. Despite trailing in the game, he held his head high and believed that he can change this game. A great defensive display by him to hold Ghiasi as he was attacking in the second half as well.

He doesn’t let Ghiasi take another point from him. Punia showed his proper class and didn’t give away a single point in the second period and when he got the chance he pins Ghiasi down which gave him two points in sequence. This comeback made him the semifinalist of the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
