A Ugandan athlete namely, Julius Ssekitoleko has been found after four days of his disappearance from Japan ahead of the Olympics where he was there to compete for the Tokyo Games.
This incident came to the attention and high public suspicion over the COVID-19 virus dangers while thousands of foreigners are entering for the Games.
“Today, the man was found in Mie Prefecture with no injuries and no involvement in any crime,” told an Osaka police official to AFP and declined to be titled with his name.
“He carried his own ID and identified himself. It is not certain to whom we should send the man– the team or the embassy.”
The 20-year old weightlifter from Uganda didn’t show up for a COVID-19 virus test. He was also not found in his hotel room and that is how the warning was put up for Ssekitoleko.
Ssekitoleko had previously come to know that he won’t be able to contend at the Tokyo Olympics which is scheduled to begin on Friday of this week, because of a quota system. A letter was seen in his room calling for himself to be sent back to his country Uganda to his family, according to the officials in the city of Izumisano.
