Tokyo Olympics: Indian Men’s Archery Team loses to South Korea 0-6

India’s men’s team gets defeated by South Korea 0-6. Indian scored 54, 57, 54 and Pravin Jadhav had his top form with 4 10s hits in 6 arrows.

India was among the twelve teams that were scheduled to take on the archery field in Yumenoshima Park of the Japanese Capital. While only one could take the Olympic gold medal at home, it’s now clear that Indians will not be the one. The Indian Men’s Archery Team lost to South Korea’s team in straight sets at the Archery Men’s Team Competition with 6-0. The opponents have advanced to the semifinals round after the competition.

India survived to score 54, 57, 54 but this was just not sufficient against the champions side opponent and got crushed against indomitable Korea in the quarter-finals.

Pravin Jadhav had his top form as he hit 4 10s in 6 arrows while Atanu Das wasn’t good enough and struggled on his unfortunate day. Despite Tarundeep Rai being good in the form, he couldn’t step up ahead to beat the Koreans.

Competitor Korea from the beginning, dominated. While India’s Atanu Das and Tarundeep Rai made 8 in the first set, Koreans hit stronger by getting five 10s in their set of six arrows. They won the first set 59-54 and took a 2-0 lead followed by their second set victory with 59-57 and seized strong composure with 4-0.

The Indians, who won a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships had a chance to make that 59 but Atanu Das who went through a bad form shot 8 in the decisive arrow of the second set.
