Tokyo Olympics: Belgium defeats Spain 3-1 to advance into the semi-finals of the men’s hockey

Belgium knocks out Spain in the men’s hockey to advance to the semi-finals with a 3-1 victory at the Tokyo Olympics. Australia and Germany are already in the semis.

Belgium has ended the campaign for Spain out of the Tokyo Games. The Belgians win 3-1 against the Spaniards to advance to the next round at the semi-final of the Tokyo Olympics. Australia and Germany have already progressed into the stage of semis.

The Spanish team started with the lead and ended the halftime dominating with 1-0 but the superiority lasted in the third quarter where top-scorer Alexander Hendrickx scored with a penalty corner followed by their two more goals to clinch the win. The world champions will be back in action against either India or Britain who is in action currently against each other.

Previously, Australia had advanced into the semi-finals by overcoming the Netherlands in a penalty shootout in cooking Tokyo heat. Germany is also into the semis who defeated Argentina.

Andrew Charter had been serving with his influential performance where he managed to keep the clean sheet in the shootouts which was won 3-0 by Aussies following the 2-2 draw at the final of regular playing time. “It’s bloody amazing,” the goalkeeper Charter said.

“To come out here and carry the burden for a bit, it’s good for my confidence and it’s good for the team defensively moving forward,” he added further.
