Silver medalist Ravi Dahiya’s school renamed as Ravi Dahiya Bal Vidyalaya

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia changed the name to honour the achievement of the Silver medalist at Tokyo 2020 and inspire students to get into sports.

Ravi Dahiya made the nation proud by his clean-cut dominating performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics where he won the Silver Medal and made the country proud by his performance. To give credit to his achievement Delhi Government changed his school’s name to Ravi Dahiya Bal. Earlier the name of the school was Rajkiya Bal Vidyalaya.

The idea for doing so is to recognise young talent in the field of sports and to support them throughout their sporting journey.

Ravi appreciated the efforts of the government and said that they constantly supported him financially and they played an important role in this journey. Dahiya also expressed his emotions and thanked the government for its gratitude.

It was a big hurdle as sports was not given the same weightage as compared to studies and Sisodia also took this as a matter and to tackle this Delhi Government had launched a Three-tier scheme for the sportspersons who are doing great in sports so that they can feel motivated and get the motivation to pursue their career in sports.

Dahiya debuted at the Tokyo Games 2020 and earned a silver medal in wrestling. He is the second Indian to win a silver medal in the sport at the Olympics.
