India’s ace badminton player PV Sindhu on Friday said that she has got a favourable draw but insisted that she has to work more hard since no match will be easy at the Olympic level. In the previous Olympics (Rio), she won the silver medal after she lost to Carolina Marin in the finals. She has been drawn with Hong Kong’s Cheung Ngan Yi and Isreal’s Ksenia Polikarpova in Group J of the women’s singles event.

In a release issued by Badminton Associations of India (BAI), PV Sindhu said, “It’s a good draw in the group stage. Hong Kong girl plays well and it’s going to be a good match.” Currently, PV Sindhu is the world number seven badminton player. She added, “Everybody is going to be in top form. This Olympic is not going to be easy, each point is very important.”

She also has an all-win record against her group rivals Ngan Yi and Polikarpova. On the other side, in men’s singles, B Sai Praneeth has marked his position in Group D along with Mark Caljouw of the Netherlands and Israeli player Misha Zilberman.

In the singles category, 42 players are divided into 14 groups with each group containing three players. Top players from each group will qualify for the knockout stage. The Tokyo Olympics is starting from July 23 to August 8. The badminton matches will start on July 24. PV Sindhu and B Sai Praneeth are the only two Indian badminton players to qualify for Tokyo Olympics 2020.
