Prime Minister, Narendra Modi meets with the Olympics returned athletes

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi met the Indian Olympic athletes for breakfast. Neeraj Chopra and PV Sindhu were seen talking to him.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi met all the Olympic athletes for breakfast in his residence. PM Modi commended all the athletes for their fantastic performances in his Independence Day speech yesterday, was seen with all the athletes today. He was pictured talking to Gold medal-winning javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra and bronze medal-winning badminton player, PV Sindhu. Sindhu, brought her silver medal, as well, which she got in the Rio Olympics of 2016.

The Indian men’s hockey team were also seen talking to the PM, as he was examining a hockey stick. The men’s hockey team won a medal after 41 years. The wrestling contingent was present too. Silver medalist, Ravi Kumar Dahiya and bronze medalist, Bajrang Punia were seen, along with suspended wrestler Vinesh Phoghat, Anshu Mallik and Seema Bisla who were there with the coach, Jagmander Singh.

The women’s hockey team, who performed excellently despite winning no medal, was also there, along with the shooting and athletics contingent.

India has won seven medals, their highest tally ever. Neeraj Chopra won the solitary gold for Javelin. Mirabai Chanu won silver for weightlifting and Ravi Kumar Dahiya won it for Wrestling. Wrestler Bajrang Punia, Badminton player PV Sindhu, Indian Men’s hockey team and pugilist Lovolina Borgohain all won bronze.

Neeraj is the first Indian to win a gold medal since Abhinav Bindra won it for shooting in 2008. He is also the first athlete to win India an athletics medal in the Olympics, a feat that has not been achieved even by all-time great Indian athletes.
