Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give invitations as special guests to the Olympic bound athletes who went to represent India at the Tokyo Games at the Japanese capital, on August 15th at Red Fort while he is set to convey his eighth straight speech on Independence Day.
According to official sources, PM Modi is also set to invite the Olympic contingent to his residence and have some interaction.
At the Tokyo Olympics, the nation was represented by a 228-strong contingent that included over 120 sportspeople. The athletes at the Games have been motivated by PM daily. He also spoke to many of them to encourage them.
“There is a rising spirit of self-confidence in India and we are seeing glimpses of this at Tokyo 2020, where our athletes are putting up spirited performances and making 130 crore Indians proud,” said the prime minister through a tweet.

He had also said few words in favour of the Indian hockey team which lost in the semifinals against Belgium today after reaching that stage for the first time in 41 years.
PM Modi, who was according to his tweet watching India vs Belgium on Tuesday said, “Wins and losses are a part of life. Our Men’s Hockey Team at Tokyo 2020 gave their best and that is what counts.” He relieved the team with these words in their support while wishing them “a very best for the next match”.
