“Joining the national camp became the turning point of my career” says Neeraj Chopra

Neeraj Chopra’s gold medal in Javelin Throw was inspiring as he mentioned that joining the national camp was the best decision of his life.

India’s first gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, the javelin thrower had revealed on Tuesday that joining the national camp was the best decision of my life and it proved to be a turnaround in his career.

The 23 Year from Haryana, Panipat has scripted a monumental record in the history of the Indian Olympics as he became the first athlete from the country to win a gold medal in track and field event by clocking a stunning distance of 87.58m. He beat the famous Johannes Vetter who holds the second biggest record in the history of this sport.

Neeraj Chopra performance made millions inspiring and there was a shower of love and respect shown to him all over the news and social media. He has created something unbelievable worth noted in the history books of the Olympics.

He also said “When I was selected for the national camp after national games 2015/16 it was a turning point in my sports career. Before that I used to cook myself, we trained properly but the good facilities I only got after coming to the training camp,” when he was felicitated by the Athletics Federation of India

Neeraj Chopra had also received an enormous and thunderous welcome from the entire country, upon arriving at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, he was showered and crowded by a huge number of fans and supporters all over.

The Indian star athlete was surprised by his performance as he said “Every athlete dreams of winning a medal in the Olympics, I won gold and I couldn’t believe it as the competition was quite tough and there were many good throwers but I performed well and won gold,” as per the reports of Times of India.

He also mentioned that “I thought I was living a dream but when I see my medal I realise ‘yes I have won gold in Olympics’. When I came back to India, I realised that I have done something worth getting respect from the people, as per the reports of Times of India.

He was being proudly congratulated by our Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi. He also his entire training team as well as AFI (Athletics Federation of India), Indian Army and sponsor JSW sports who helped him in his contributions and success. He also thanked the federation for continuing his camp amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
