Javelin throwing competition to be conducted every year on 7th August in honour of gold medalist Neeraj Chopra

Athletics Federation of India decided to conduct a Javelin throw event every year on 7th August in honour of the first Gold medalist in athletics for India, Neeraj Chopra.

The country is proud of Neeraj Chopra and he is being showered with love and rewards from all around the country. The athlete grabs the Gold Medal with the historic throw of 87.58m and finally accomplished the dream of billions of Indian hearts for having a Gold in Athletics.

A felicitation program was organised by AFI for Neeraj Chopra where the chairman of AFI Lalit Bhanot said “Athletics Federation of India’s planning committee has decided to further promote javelin throwing and will hold competitions every year throughout the country on August 7 as Neeraj Chopra won the gold in Tokyo on this day,” as per India Today.

Neeraj was only the second Individual to bring a Gold Medal after Abhinav Bindra. He deserves all the respect and honour as he completely dominated the event to bring the Gold home. He will also get the reward of ₹6cr by Haryana Government, CSK and BCCI to award ₹1cr each and the Punjab government to reward him with ₹2cr. Not only this but Anand Mahindra promised to acknowledge his victory by awarding him XUV700 which is yet to be launched and Indigo Airlines gifted him with free travel for 1 year.
