
The gold medal winners at the Tokyo Olympics will be rewarded with a cash amount of Rs 75 lakh apart from offering each of the partaking National Sports Federations (NSFs) a compensation sum of Rs 25 lakh, declared the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Thursday.
The IOA Advisory Committee has proposed that silver medal heroes will be exemplified Rs 40 lakh and the ones to earn bronze will be granted Rs 25 lakhs. “It also recommended a sum of Rs. 1 lakh to each athlete representing the country at the Tokyo Olympics Games,” said IOA through a statement.
The IOA also has asserted the proposals of its advisory group to provide each of the participating NSF with a compensation sum of Rs. 25 lakh along with Rs 30 lakh to each of the NSFs who win a medal as additional assistance.
A help of Rs. 15 lakhs each will be collected by other members of National Sports Federations as well. “This is the first time IOA is giving reward to medal winners and medal producing NSFs to such an extend,” told Rajeev Mehta, the IOA secretary-general.
The members of the Indian group who are living in the Japanese capital for the Tokyo Games will be permitted USD 50 per day each, as proposed by the advisory group.
